Terengganu Dropped Charges Voluntarily

In 1999 state election, the opposition has took control of Terengganu after BN loss its majority votes. A year later in September 2000, the then Malaysia Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohammad ordered PETRONAS to rescind the royalty payments on the ground that the federal government (BN) did not have confidence on state government (PAS) in managing the fund. 

March 2001, PAS-led state government of Terengganu has filed a lawsuit in the high court insisting that federal government's decree to stop the royalty payment is illegal based on exclusive agreement between PETRONAS and state. 

When BN took over Terengganu in 2005, they want to reinstate back the royalty payment in 2009, but the disagreements remained. Much of these revolved around federal government's special compensation scheme to the state called 'Wang Ehsan'. Of course, the wang ehsan paid to Terengganu now is much lower than the actual value Terengganu could get by 5%. 

Last March 31st, Terengganu government voluntarily dropped its 11-year legal suit against PETRONAS over the payment of royalties without any settlements. BN is so corrupt..rotten to grassroots.

Schlumberger Malaysia to invest up to MYR1.2B

Oil and gas dude must have heard this company. An oilfield services giant which has been operating in Malaysia since 1935. One of the must work place for people who keen in sub-surface/reservoir engineering/drilling/well service/geo-services etc. They pay very good salary and package as well. As the interviewer said, we will pay as much as your sweat drops. Very true indeed. 

You can make a fortune if you work here, depending on the path you take. I heard from my brother, who also happened to work in Schlumberger (Turkmenistan based), his friend who works as Directional Driller Supervisor earned more than MYR100K per month. He now lives in Dubai with his family. Make me drools a while when heard that. To work with them you also need to have a very good result in your degree (preferably 3 pointer above). 

The only way to apply for a job in Schlumberger is through its website: Schlumberger. I have not heard or saw any job advertisements from Schlumberger through any other recruitment agency, or in other words, Schlumberger has never appoints third party agency to recruit their staff. If you found one, it might be a job scam.

6 ciri-ciri Isteri Derhaka

Apakah ciri atau tanda isteri yang derhaka itu? Ini perlu diketahui semata-mata untuk dijadikan langkah waspada agar para isteri terhindar daripadanya. Berikut diketengahkan antara ciri atau tanda isteri derhaka:

Pertama: Tidak mensyukuri kebaikan yang dilakukan suami.

Sabda Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam bermaksud: Aku lihat api neraka, tidak pernah aku melihatnya seperti hari ini, kerana ada pemandangan yang dahsyat di dalamnya. Telah aku saksikan kebanyakan ahli neraka ialah wanita. Rasullullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam ditanya: Mengapa demikian ya Rasulullah? Baginda menjawab: Wanita mengkufurkan suaminya dan mangkufurkan ihsannya. Jikalau engkau berbuat baik kepadanya seberapa banyak pun dia masih belum merasa berpuas hati dan merasa cukup.

(Hadis Riwayat al-Bukhari)

Ibnu ‘Asakir pula menyebut: Apabila seorang isteri berkata kepada suaminya, aku belum pun melihat atau merasa nikmat pemberian daripadamu, maka ketika itu gugurlah segala pahala amalan kebajikannya.

Kedua: Suka menyakiti hati suami.

Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam bersabda yang bermaksud: Kebanyakan ahli neraka adalah terdiri daripada kaum wanita. Maka menangislah mereka dan bertanya salah seorang daripada mereka: Mengapa terjadi demikian, adakah kerana mereka berzina atau membunuh anak atau kafir Baginda menjawab: Tidak, mereka ini ialah mereka yang menggunakan lidah menyakiti hati suami dan tidak bersyukur akan nikmat yang disediakan oleh suaminya. (Hadis Riwayat Muslim)

Isteri yang suka menyakiti hati suami akan menerima balasan buruk sebagaimana sabda Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam: Seorang wanita menyakiti suaminya, maka isterinya yang bidadari itu berkata: Janganlah kamu menyakitinya semoga Allah mengutukmu, kerana dia (suami) itu disampingmu hanyalah sebagai orang asing yang akan berpisah denganmu menuju kami. (Hadis Riwayat Ibnu Majah)

Ketiga: Puasa sunat tanpa keizinan suami dan memasukkan seorang lelaki tanpa izin suaminya.

Sabda Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam yang bermaksud: Tidak boleh seorang isteri mengerjakan puasa sunat, jika suaminya ada dirumah, serta tidak dengan izinnya dan tidak boleh memasukkan seorang lelaki ke rumahnya dengan tidak izin suaminya. (Hadis Riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim)

Walaupun lelaki yang datang kerumah isteri tersebut adalah terdiri daripada mahramnya. Tetapi jika suami tidak ada halangan di atas kehadiran mereka tidak menjadi masaalah.

Keempat: Keluar rumah tanpa izin suami.

Nabi SAW bersabda maksudnya: Apabila perempuan keluar rumah, sedangkan suaminya membencinya, dia dilaknat oleh semua malaikat di langit, dan semua apa yang dilaluinya selain daripada jin dan manusia sehingga dia kembali. (Hadis Riwayat Thabarani di dalam al-Awsat)

Kelima : Meminta cerai daripada suami.

Sabda Rasulallah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam yang bermaksud: Mana-mana isteri yang meminta suaminya menceraikannya dengan tiada sebab yang dibenarkan oleh syarak haram baginya bau syurga. (Hadis Riwayat Abu Daud dan Tirmizi)

Dalam kes meminta cerai kepada suaminya, seorang isteri dibenarkan sekiranya terdapat beberapa sebab yang di benarkan syarak seperti suami tidak memberikan nafkah zahir dan batin, suka memukul isteri dan menyuruh isteri melakukan perkara yang haram.

Isteri boleh mengadu pada mahkamah syariah di atas perbuatan suaminya dan boleh menuntut fasakh. Jika isteri sudah merasakan tidak bersesuaian untuk hidup bersama suaminya dia boleh juga mengadu di makhamah syariah untuk Tebus Talak iaitu memberikan beberapa sejumlah wang sebagai tebusan kepada suaminya untuk dia diceraikan.

Tetapi dalam kes suami hendak berpoligami dan suami berkemampuan ketika ini isteri tidak ada hak untuk meminta cerai . Ini adalah kerana hukum berpoligami telah termaktub di dalam al-Quran dan ianya di halalkan oleh Allah SWT.

Jika suaminya telah pun berkahwin lain tanpa pengetahuannya dan jika dia memaksa suaminya menceriakan madunya dia akan mendapat laknat Allah dan berdosa besar. Suaminya akan menjadi dayus apabila mengikut telunjuk isteri dengan mengabaikan isteri keduanya.

Jalan sebaik-baiknya isteri pertama perlulah bertolak ansur dan janganlah mengikut nafsu amarah dan membelakangkan hukum agama.

Jika kalian bersabar dan menerima kehadiran isteri kedua dengan hati yang tenang dan terbuka dan berfikiran positif ganjaran yang akan kalian terima cukup besar disis Allah SWT.

Jika kalian bertindak secara melulu tanpa di dorong oleh iman dan takwa berdasarkan hadis di atas tidak akan masuk syurga isteri yang meminta cerai tanpa alasan yang dibenarkan syarak.

Keenam: Isteri yang tidak menunaikan hajat suami.

Sabda Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam maksudnya: Apabila memanggil suami akan isterinya ke tempat tidur, tetapi ditolaknya sehingga marahlah suaminya, maka akan tidurlah wanita itu di dalam laknat malaikat sehingga ke pagi. (Hadis Riwayat Bukhari dan Muslim)

10 Why Hijab for Women

This issue has been the most common issue for Islam nowadays. Let's go through those points excerpt from Dr. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik's writing, Answers to Non-Muslims' Common Questions About Islam for ISLAMIC RESEARCH FOUNDATION.

The status of women in Islam is often the target of attacks in the secular media. The ‘hijab’ or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the ‘subjugation’ of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning behind the religiously mandated ‘hijab’, let us first study the status of women in societies before the advent of Islam.

1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

a. Babylonian Civilization:

The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.

b. Greek Civilization:

Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.

c. Roman Civilization:

When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.

d. Egyptian Civilization:

The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.

e. Pre-Islamic Arabia:

Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status

Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

Hijab for men

People usually only discuss ‘hijab’ in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijab’ for men before ‘hijab’ for the women. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.” [Al-Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

Hijab for women.

The next verse of Surah Noor, says:

“ And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons...” [Al-Qur’an 24:31]

3. Six criteria for Hijab.

According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijab:

1. Extent:

The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijab’.

All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.

2. The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.

3. The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.

4. The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.

5. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.

6. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

4. Hijab includes conduct and behaviour among other things

Complete ‘hijab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijab’ of the eyes, ‘hijab’ of the heart, ‘hijab’ of thought and ‘hijab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

5. Hijab prevents molestation

The reason why Hijab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:

“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Al-Qur’an 33:59]

The Qur’an says that Hijab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

6. Example of twin sisters

Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijab prevents women from being molested.

7. Capital punishment for the rapists

Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

8. Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

9. USA has one of the highest rates of rape

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

10. Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

Easy money

That morning when I arrived in office, as usual, I checked my Gmail inbox. One name of the senders really catches my eyes. Raef Labani. My former boss, with an email subject - Request for standby assistance. Below is the content of the email he sent.

Dear Shah,

Hope you are doing well.

Installation of Titan PC2 panel is scheduled to start April 16.

Randal will be in charge of doing it; he has previous experience with Simatic control systems.

I request you for standby telephone assistance in case anything comes up which you could answer based on your experience with installing/commissioning PC1 panel.

We offer you a lump sum of 1000 RM for such support whether you have been called or not.

Kindly let me know if acceptable.

Who dare to control this machine?

Yang masih tak tahu apekebende ni..Ini adalah picture of the flight deck of space shuttle Endeavour. The controls of one of the humanity's most sophisticated machines. What would it be like to fly a space shuttle?

Tengok je dah nak muntah. I can't imagine how long one takes to master the controlling system for this shuttle. Kalau nak jadi pilot pun dah makan tahun-tahun jugak kan. Inikan space shuttle.

Nampak seat die macam tak selesa je. FYI, the NASA's space shuttle has now been retired. The retired space shuttles are now being sent to museums, with Endeavour being sent to California Space Center in Los Angeles, California, Atlantis to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Merritt Island, Florida, and Discovery to the Udvar-Hazy Annex of the National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia.

So sesapa berpeluang ke tempat-tempat yang disebut di atas boleh la buat lawatan untuk melihat NASA punye shuttles.

Imam Batal Solat..Hence..

Dua minggu lepas, selepas waktu pejabat, aku dan beberapa rakan sekerja pergi minum di kawasan berdekatan dengan pejabat kami. Maka bermulalah bual-bual kosong orang bujang yang biasa-biasa ketika lepak di mamak. Tapi aku sahaja yang sudah berkahwin. Pada ketika itu, mereka hangat menceritakan kisah-kisah kelakar yang pernah terjadi pada mereka atau kawan-kawan. Aku pun tak ketinggalan menyedekahkan dua atau tiga cerita yang dapat gelakan yang agak kuat. Dalam banyak-banyak cerita, keluar la satu cerita di mana cerita tentang solat dan waktu sujud Imam terbatal solat dan Imam terus meluru keluar dari jemaah tanpa jemaah ketahui akannya. Setelah sekian lama, seorang jemaah bangun dan menjerit "Imam sudah hilang"..disusuli dengan jemaah lain bangun, dan terus batal solat mereka semuanya.

Dari kisah tadi tu, timbul pula persoalan, apakah yang terjadi kepada makmum sekiranya Imam terbatal solatnya. Maka di sini suka aku nak ceritakan bersandarkan hadis riwayat Bukhari seperti terjemahan di bawah:

" Jika Imam betul, pahala solat itu bagi kamu dan dia (Imam), sebaliknya jika dia (Imam) tidak betul, maka solat itu bagi kamu dan tidak (sah) bagi dia (Imam)." Sahih Bukhari, cetakan Istanbul 2/187.

Maksudnya di sini, selagi kita (makmum) tidak mengetahui bahawa Imam itu tidak terbatal solatnya, maka solat kita adalah sah tetapi tidak pada Imam itu. Akan tetapi jika kita mengetahui yang solat Imam itu terbatal selagi kita tidak berniat mufarakah maka batal lah jugak solat kita.

Ok, mufarakah ialah di mana kita qasad niat untuk keluar dari jemaah itu. Bila dah niat macam tu kita just sambung je solat kita macam biasa. Untuk keterangan lanjut pasal Mufarakah boleh baca di sini.

Identity busted - Royal family bashed local dude

I still remember but not exactly sure when I told my wife that royal family that bashed Mikael Adam, which I accidentally happened to read the article while browsing the net, would be someone either from Johor Royal family or Negeri Sembilan Royal family.

With dissatisfaction my wife asked "Why?".

I added, "Because both are like gangsters".

Asalkan ada space..bole jugak die buat rumah kat situ.
Bila la agaknya Malaysia nak jadi macam ni..huhu.

Tapi sebenarnya agak cool jugak design die tu. Dalam gambar nampak agak spacious jugak ruang dia tu. Cukup la untuk satu couple with one child. Kalau bagi kat orang miskin yang homeless yang ada 10 orang household pun diaorang dah bersyukur sangat-sangat kot ni.

Nostalgia Nasi Campur

Membaca tulisan Tukar Tiub membuatkan aku nak bernostalgia juga tentang harga nasi campur. Masih lagi aku ingat ketika belajar di universiti dulu, harga nasi campur dekat 'village' kediaman aku adalah RM2. Nasi berlaukkan ayam goreng dan sedikit sayur.

Dan itu adalah sekitar tahun 2000 hingga 2003, di Tronoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan. Aku tertanya-tanya, berapakah nilai nasi campur di situ sekarang?

Kini aku bekerja di Shah Alam, secara tepatnya, di kawasan Perindustrian Bukit Jelutong berhampiran TTDI Jaya. Secara puratanya harga nasi campur di sini untuk makan tengah hari adalah dalam lingkungan RM 6 hingga RM 10. Tidak pernah kurang dari RM 6. Jika keadaan berterusan begini, adakah harganya akan 'maintain'?

Pinoy take over Esso Malaysia

After ExxonMobil International Holding disposed its entire stake in Esso Malaysia, all their executive directors resign from their post and filled up by Petron and San Miguel directors mostly Philiphine citizens.

The 65% stake of ExxonMobil bought up by San Miguel Corporation's unit Petron Oil & Gas Sdn Bhd last Friday.

Now, here's the catch, one of the director of San Miguel is Mirzan Mahathir, the eldest son of former PM of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad. One by one Mahathir's sons taking over the oil & gas businesses here in Malaysia. Everyone knows that the other son, Mokhzani is own Kencana Petroleum.
