Log Kerja: Journey To The North

Lama gua tak ber-blogging. Too occupied with never ending thing call work. At this moment I am in squalid little room hotel in Nizhnekamsk, Russia Federation. Ground temperature is 15°C below zero. I like the 'green winter' more than the 'white winter', it's warmer. I flew from Singapore to Moscow for almost 11 hours and connecting flight to Nizhnekamsk for another 2 hours.

Dah almost 8 weeks gua dekat sini! Bayangkan lah kalau Nizhnekamsk macam tu sekali, dekat Siberia or Magadan maybe akan drop almost -50°C. Burrrrrrrr! Sejuk!

Nizhnekamsk flag.

Nizhnekamsk located in Republic of Tatarstan. Half of the population is Russian and the other half is Tatar. Most Tatar are muslim. Macam kat Malaysia la, asal melayu je mesti muslim walaupun ade jugak yang kristian or hindu etc. Kalau kat sini, asal Tatar je mesti muslim. Tapi susah betul nak cari restoran halal.

Salah satu gate nak masuk refinery. Ni tempat gua kerja. Gambar ni diambil ketika masih lagi 'green winter'. Itu pun cecah 0°C most of the time.

Selfie picture - peh dah pandai guna word bombastic macam ni. Belakang tu barrel compressor steam turbine driven, made in USA.

Elliott has two factories; Jeannette and Sodegaura. Next year kalau masih kerja di Elliott insyaallah gua akan pergi factory training kat Sodegaura. Dah nak setahun kerja baru nak anta training. Most of the FSEs in Elliott prefer to commission machines made in Sodegaura rather than Jeannette. Diaorang complain selalu machine datang dari Jeannette banyak problem. Sodegaura made less problem. So far gua dah merasa dua-dua machines, ada jugak betulnya tu. Yang ni kami dah bukak bearing dua kali, buka dry gas seal sekali and tuka dry gas seal sekali. Baru satu train.

Tapi dah 2 weeks compressor running with nitrogen. Now we are waiting to run with actual gas; hydrogen, before we can handover to customer.

Jom layan gambar-gambar yang gua snap dekat sini. Bandar ni takde apa yang menarik, industrial town established in 1960s.

Dulu diorang bole pegi Moscow or St. Petersburg via this river, of course naik boat la.

Soviet WWII memorial - Ni dekat suburb Nizhnekamsk satu town called Krasniy Klyuch. Area-area Kama River tu la.

Another mosque in Krasniy Klyuch. Ada lagi satu kat tengah bandar Nizhnekamsk, tapi takde picture.

Sebenarnya time ni ada dry snow turun. Cantik gile dry snow, bola-bola kecik jatuh dari langit. First time nampak dry snow. Tapi dalam picture tak nampak plak.

Gua masak nasi lemak - Time tengah kepingin nak makan nasi lemak, gua punye colleague dari Russia jemput datang apartment dia suh gua masak masakan melayu. Hence nasi lemak la.

First day heavy snow - Kelihatan dalam gambar rakan-rakan sejawat dari Ansaldo, Howden & Thomassen and my colleague Elliott Russia. Kul 8am baru sampai plant.

Mamat-mamat Italy - left is from Weir Gabbioneta and right is from Ansaldo.

Three of his 200kw pumps are driven by steam turbine manufactured by Dresser-Rand. They requested D-R FSE to come unfortunately they only available after three weeks. So Silvio and Taneco (Client) came to me and asked me to commission the steam turbines. At first they were willing to pay Elliott for this additional works. I don't think that Elliott would allow me to do this so I said I will add more OTs in my timesheet, Taneco agreed! At this point I already commissioned and solo run two of the steam turbines before Silvio left due to visa expiry, and I ate free for as long as Silvio was here. My lunch and dinner were 'paid' by Gabbioneta. He is coming again end of this week that means free lunch and dinner again. Heh!

Nampak budak-budak seronok bila snow - Teringat anak-anak dekat Malaysia. I miss them so much.

Time ni baru -5°C, itupun dah shivering. Jalan-jalan cari makan hujung minggu.
